SafeLane supporting Project Masam in Yemen
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today announced its continued support to landmine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance in Yemen.
Project Masam is implemented by Dubai based Dynasafe Middle East Project Management (DSMEPM), with SafeLane Global providing equipment, insurance, international trainers and mentors.
This ground-breaking project will be fully funded into its third year by the Saudi government through the King Salman Centre for Relief and Humanitarian Aid.
Survey and clearance operations in Yemen
A total of thirty-two Yemeni clearance teams, over four hundred Yemeni nationals, including administration support staff supported by experienced technical mentors, will continue to conduct survey and clearance operations to open roads, provide access to key infrastructure, including schools, and assist the Yemeni people to return to their homes and livelihoods disrupted by the conflict.
Since its inception in 2018, Project Masam has cleared [as at December 2021]:

4,178 anti-personnel mines

96,587 anti-tank mines

180,769 items of UXO

6,111 IEDs - resulting in 27,795,722 sqm of land being made safe for the local community.
The objective of Project Masam
Life may only return to normal when the lethal explosive remnants of war have all been located and removed from affecting civilian life.
This is the objective of Project Masam and all those involved are privileged to be part of such a generous humanitarian initiative commenced by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
