A good news story from SafeLane's project in Somalia. Kennel hand Prince Dube has been trained on project and passed his accreditation to become an explosive detection dog handler.
Congratulations to newly accredited explosive detection dog (EDD) handler, Prince Dube, from everyone at SafeLane Global.
About Prince: EDD handler
Prince has been working with the SafeLane team in Somalia since 2016. He was originally employed as a kennel hand; his dedication to the welfare of the dogs in his care remains exemplary.
However, leadership on the ground in Somalia quickly recognised Prince’s aptitude and desire to advance. As a result, alongside his daily kennel duties, trainers and mentors in Somalia have been developing his skills as a handler.
Prince has relished the opportunity to develop and has been studying, practicing, observing and working towards accreditation at every opportunity.
Last week Prince finalised and passed his first UNMAS operational accreditation process, and can now work as an EDD handler.
He has been assigned explosive detection dogs Hektor and Vagany, with which he is photographed.
Prince has been accredited to work with the team for the next 6 months, and we all wish him every success in his new role.
Congratulations and thanks also to the SafeLane in theatre trainers who developed Prince’s skills and prepared him for the accreditation process enabling him to work on operations in Somalia.
