Humanitarian operations in Democratic Republic of Congo
SafeLane Global provided explosive ordnance detection and mine risk education in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Humanitarian operations in DRC
SafeLane Global was employed by a global humanitarian organisation to provide explosive ordnance detection (EOD) capacity for a 6-month deployment in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
SafeLane was required to provide a management capacity out of Goma, and 2 fully self-sufficient multi-task teams (MTTs) to operate across priority tasking in Eastern DRC.
The client’s operational brief was for two multi-task teams to support humanitarian operations in Eastern DRC.
The two MTTs deployed by SafeLane Global carried out surveys (both technical and non-technical), battle area clearance work (BAC) - surface and sub-surface, EOD spot tasks and bulk demolitions throughout Nord Kivu, Sud Kivu, Maniema and Katanga provinces.
267 operation tasks were completed by the SafeLane teams in the Democratic Republic of Congo to support the humanitarian operations therein.
13 mine risk education events were delivered for local communities.
Over 850 items of unexploded ordnance were safely disposed of.
